“When I look at you,” Graeme continued, “all I can think about is holding you and kissing you. I know that’s not actually appropriate, especially given our situation, but I’m putting you on notice. When all of this has been sorted, we’re going to revisit this conversation; that is, if you’re interested.”
“You know,” Kiara said softly. “When I told you that I slept really well, I was lying to you. I didn’t sleep well; not at all.”
He looked worried. “Did I scare you with my confession? I suppose I should have waited for a few days, until I’ve proven to you that you and Ronan can trust me.”
She smiled. “The reason I couldn’t sleep is because all I could think about is that you were only just a few feet away. I thought about just how easy it would be to creep down the hallway to your room, slip in and slide right into bed with you,” she said so softly, like she was afraid he would do something that would make her want to get those words back. Graeme was suddenly sure she wasn’t lying. He was also sure she hadn’t confessed anything like that to a common human being. A man, or even a man that she liked.
This time, it was Graeme who smiled. “Really?”
“Yes. That’s what I thought about for hours. So if you’re asking me if I want to talk about this further at a more appropriate time, then yes, I would.”

Graeme has been hired to locate a missing person, Kiara. He does locate her only to find that she has been living on the streets with her little brother Ronan. Something seems very off about Kiara’s story, but Graeme cannot quite put his finger on what it is.Graeme was hired by Jefferson Graves to find Kiara, who has apparently been named as the fourth heir to a very sizeable estate. Graeme wants to take his time before handing Kiara over to Jefferson, however, until he can really confirm Jefferson’s story. Somehow, Graeme finds himself feeling protective of Kiara and Ronan. They have only been in his house for a short time, but he can tell that they are good people.
Ronan hasn’t been able to speak since he witnessed a tragic event a couple of years ago. Graeme wants to help him regain his speech as much as possible, but it will obviously take time, and probably a lot of speech therapy.
As Graeme and Kiara get to know each other better, there is an obvious attraction that neither one of them can ignore. They both know that they need to be careful, however, because of Ronan and the unknowns of Jefferson Graves and the estate.

Can I laugh for a bit? Wow! I knew it! Ahahaha! I freaking knew it! I want to host a party or something because this book is so well-written! The plot twist is so amazing! Agggh!!! I'm so pumped I felt like punching someone in the face! (this is a joke! I'm not a violent person!) But in all seriousness.. what?! Are you serious?! My headcanon was right?! Thank the gods for this! Ahhhh! I felt like flying right now. I'm so giddy because the ending I'm wishing for came true! Sandra, you're very talented!
Seriously though, Graeme and Kiara's connection is caaaahrazzzy! Not to mention the universal symbols and archetypes used in the second book is really good! Ronan is very cute too, I want to pinch his cheeks forever just so he can smile a lot! The 'murder' backdrop is well-written, and the head-versus-heart struggle of Graeme is realistic, even though he was an angel to begin with. The struggle of finding the real 'evil' one (again, my comment on character archetype) is really entertaining. I wish there's like a sequel of some sorts though, cause I want more! All in all, this is such a nice read!
